JAMES CLEVERTON Baritone
Trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the Zürich International Opera Studio.
He has performed principal roles at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, English National Opera, Opernhaus Zürich, Salzburg Festival, Stadttheater St Gallen, Opéra de Rennes, Opera Holland Park, Grange Park Opera and Garsington Opera.
Recent performances include The Protector Written on Skin (Benjamin) and Pablo Exterminating Angel (Adès) for the Royal Opera House, Horemhab Akhnaten for ENO, Kyoto in Iris (Mascagni) for Opera Holland Park, Sharpless Madam Butterfly at the Royal Albert Hall for Raymond Gubbay, Dulcamara Elixir of Love for Scottish Opera and the Commercial Counsellor Intermezzo for Garsington Opera.
Future plans include his WNO debut as Frank in Die Fledermaus, returns to ENO and Opera Holland Park, Handel’s Messiah with the CBSO and Christmas and New Year’s Galas at Birmingham Symphony Hall, Manchester Bridgwater Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall for Raymond Gubbay.
